Anemia is a condition that develops when the number of Red Blood Cells (RBC) decrease in the body. Haemoglobin which is made up of haem (iron) and globin (protein) supplies oxygen & nutrients to all parts of our body & when the quantity of haemoglobin in our body reduces, anaemia is developed.

Almonds – Almonds are a good source of iron and copper and an easy remedy for anaemia. Include 3-4 almonds in your daily diet, with or without skin.
Turmeric - Turmeric is considered to be an all-rounder spice. It carries multiple benefits. One teaspoon of turmeric juice mixed with honey consumed daily helps to combat anaemia.
Dates –This remedy is helpful for women. Dates are a rich source of iron. Soak few dates (4-5) along with few raisins (6-8) in water overnight and have them with milk the next day.
Bananas – Bananas have high content of iron in it which helps to increase the haemoglobin level in the blood.
Fruits rich in Vitamin C – Vitamin C helps to absorb iron in the body effectively. Eat vitamin C rich fruits along with iron rich foods.
Avoid processed & refined foods such as refined flour, sugar & polished rice. Eat more of whole grains like bajra, brown rice, wheat since they are good source of iron.
Avoid preservatives in foods & ready to eat snacks. Too much tea & coffee interferes with iron absorption.
Eating too many chocolates & sweets too limits iron absorption in the body.
