Nausea is a common feeling that can hit you at any time of the day and at any age. When a person fells nauseated, he faces other symptoms like dizziness and sweating.Usually nausea is a sign that there is some kind of problem in the body. At times it might be a reaction to what you have eaten but it can be a result of an ailment too.Nausea is generally a symptom associated with a variety of ailments like dehydration, migraine, heartburn, acid reflux, motion sickness, sun stroke, stomach disorder and food poisoning.Every stages of pregnancy and side effects of cancer treatment can also lead to a feeling of nausea.Tough nausea is not a serious ailment but it definitely leaves you tired and fatigued. Nausea can be treated through various natural home-based remedies. Let us get to know about a few of them.

  1. Ginger

Ginger is a great remedy for nausea. According to several researches, ginger contains active components, such as volatile oils and pungent phenol compounds. These components impact the nervous system, stomach and intestines and thus, reduce the feeling of nausea. Ginger is particularly helpful in easing nausea associated with pregnancy and chemotherapy.

Just take one teaspoon of grated ginger and add it in a cup of boiling water. Let this water simmer for about 10 minutes. Once it cools down a bit, strain and then add some lemon juice and honey in it. Drink this concoction three times in a day.

Alternately, add half teaspoon of ginger juice in one tablespoon of honey, and one teaspoon each of lemon juice and mint juice. Mix well and then consume it at regular intervals.

Besides, you can also nibble on a piece of raw ginger or suck on a ginger candy or pickle. This will surely reduce the feeling of nausea.

  1. Peppermint

Peppermint has a soothing effect on the stomach lining and thus reduces the feeling of nausea. Peppermint also possesses antispasmodic properties, which prevent both cramping and nausea. As per a study done by Liverpool University in England, peppermint is quite effective in averting the feeling of nausea associated with post-operative surgery.

Just take a teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves in a cup and add a cup of hot water to it. Let it steep for a few minutes and then strain it. Now add a spoon of honey in it. Savor this tea while it is lukewarm. This herbal tea is effective in alleviating the feeling of nausea and intestinal cramps.

Besides, you can also pour a few drops of peppermint oil on a tissue and inhale it. This remedy will surely make you feel better.

  1. Lemon

Lemon is the most effective remedy in relieving nausea. The presence of neutralizing acids in lemon creates bicarbonates in the stomach, which in turn treat nausea associated with flu, bloating, heartburn, gas and upset stomach. Besides, lemon too balances the natural pH level of the body.

All you need to do is mix one teaspoon each of lemon juice and honey together. Consume this mixture to reduce nausea.

You can also consume a glass of water after mixing juice of half lemon and half teaspoon of salt in it. First of all, inhale the smell of this solution for a couple of minutes and then drink it. High blood pressure patients should avoid drinking this solution.

  1. Clove

Another great remedy for alleviating the feeling of nausea is clove. It has aromatic and soothing properties and therefore, helps reduce nausea symptoms. It is also useful in treating nausea and morning sickness associated with pregnancy.

Just take a cup of boiling water and then add one teaspoon of clove powder in it. Stir well and the cover it. Let the powder steep for a few minutes and then strain. Now add a teaspoon of honey and drink it. Follow this remedy daily till the problem gets resolved.
